Hubert was born in 1958 when Leo Burnett Company was asked to create a warm, friendly spokesperson to support a new venture into retail banking.
Hubert regularly appeared in TV commercials, decked out in dollar signs and speaking with a distinct British accent.
Hubert continued to evolve with the times, becoming an even friendlier and more down-to-earth mascot – now with an American accent – in the 1970s.
To celebrate Hubert’s birthday on May 16, 2008, every Harris branch throughout Chicagoland and Indiana had an in-branch birthday party.
